Full Dvořák Hall shared the joy of the Jussen brothers
“Thank you very much for your concentration. We know that’s all wonderful music. Le Sacre du Printemps is a fantastic piece but it can also be a difficult piece, not only for us, the pianists, but also sometimes for the audience. (…) we always feel immediately after the first one or two minutes if the audience is there with us, if they are just as concentrated and it helps us immensely if that’s the case. And tonight, it was the case!” said Lucas Jussen in a touching thank you at the end of a phenomenal concert that lifted the entire Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum from its seats. The highlight of the first half of the concert was undoubtedly dark Ravel’s La valse – it was also the first time when these two sympathetic musicians got standing ovations. The whole evening culminated in an ecstatic performance of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring in a version for two pianos. This festival’s opening concert will be remembered – and you can recall it in the photos from the concert.
