After the concert there will be a meeting with Piotr Anderszewski in the Dvořák Hall

“Everything about Piotr Anderszewski is exceptional and defies all standards,” Bruno Monsaingeon, the famous director of Voyageur intranquille (Unquiet Traveller), said of the Polish pianist. One of today’s most highly regarded musicians returns to the festival after five years. On his last visit, music critics raved about his superlative interpretation of his chosen Bach programme.
Johann Sebastian Bach will also open the programme of his November concert at the Rudolfinum: on this occasion he will perform the monumental Partita in E minor. Anderszewski will complement his favourite composer with music from his native country, a work by 20th century Polish classic Karol Szymanowski. The second half of the evening will feature music by composers associated with Vienna. It will open with a concise and mysterious miniature by Anton Webern, and culminate in a performance of one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most beautiful and most profound works, the penultimate 31st piano sonata.
